The editors of YouTube channel Real 80s CCM, which has currently over 30,000 subscribers and 20 million views, has named Joseph Lamm's 1988 album STANDING IN THE TOWER as the best independent release of the decade.

Produced by gold and platinum award-winning composer/keyboardist Steve Millikan, the album marked a shift towards a more muscular sound and the sessions were approached with a unified band in mind. Stellar musicians working with Lamm and Millikan were drummer Dane Clark, bassist Randy Melson, and guitarist Sandy Williams, who brought along his recently developed Sustainiac pedal that provided an atmospheric texture to many of the songs.
